What does one expect when they watch a family film...first thing that pops up to mind is all round fun, fun and fun. What people want in a family film is something that is easy, something light to watch while enjoying their Rm5 bucks worth of popcorn. As somebody who has been totally into movies since I was practically an infant, throughout the years I have learned that family oriented films are meant to be light and entertaining. If one goes in expecting a more mature feeling comedy, the person watching will end up being disappointed. It's easy to say some movie is brainless and has no meaning, heck I can write that now about all those horrible movies that I have seen throughout my life. These leads me to now, today, literally today...made me wonder, do we go into movies looking for a hidden meaning, scouring the movie for its finer details or do we go to the movies to be entertained. I love comedies, everything from Ace Ventura to the original Scary Movie, they were fun fun fun all round fun. But would you consider Ace Ventura and Scary Movie a family oriented film? Of course not, cause the target audience is most likely the 16 and above crowd. Now movies like, Journey to The Center of The Earth and Spy Kids usually get moderate to bad reviews because of what it is, a family movie targeted to children and to some has no value at all. I believe that sometimes people have to go into movies and just watch it to be entertained and not think about 1+2 too much, it ruins everything. Sometimes you have to go into it as the same five year old boy/girl that you once were lining up to see a Doraemon movie as silly as you think it is, in my opinion we think too much sometimes and stop ourselves from being entertained. 'm too smart to watch a certain movie cause its too dumb...now I think that sometimes I just have to go into a cinema to be entertained, enjoy the ride and swallow down that pack of coke.
